I’m Syd, a writer, content creator, and perfect example of what happens when parents give their kids internet access too early.

 

However in my 6+ years working in media, I like to think I’ve used my chronic onlineness for good: I’ve been a Senior Staff Writer and TikTok Editorial Lead at BuzzFeed, published two books with Simon & Schuster, and co-founded a bar pop-up with my best friend called That Reality Bar that took off all because we went viral on TikTok!

 

I pride myself on having what I like to call “viral-dar,” aka knowing why and how things go viral and, in turn, knowing how to actually create viral content. With my freelance content creation and consulting work, I love getting to bring my Gen-Z brain-rot knowledge to different brands and collaborating with them to best tap into their specific corners of the internet.

 

If I was forced to give some “fun facts” in some kind of anxiety-inducing icebreaker exercise, I’d probably blurt out that I was a counselor at a fully unplugged wilderness sleepaway camp for 4 summers (yes I’m aware of the irony lol), or that I geek out on pop culture and music criticism (specifically the pendulum of public opinion), or that my whole world revolves around my tiny, sassy pug, Phoebe, whose picture you will find littered all over this website. That, or that I have clubbed thumbs.
